World Bank Press Conference On Launch of Natural Disasters And Global Poverty Report

A new World Bank report, Unbreakable: Building the Resilience of the Poor in the Face of Natural Disasters, looks at the impact of extreme natural disasters and climate change on global poverty. The report, through new research, warns that the combined human and economic impacts of extreme weather on poverty are far more devastating than previously understood. With the climate summit, COP22, underway, the report’s findings underscore the urgency for climate-smart policies that protect the most vulnerable.

Media are invited to join a press conference for the launch of Unbreakable: Building the Resilience of the Poor in the Face of Natural Disasters, a joint World Bank/Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) report.

Speaker:

  • John Roome, Senior Director for Climate Change, World Bank
  • Stephane Hallegatte, Lead Economist and lead author of the report, GFDRR/World Bank
